Dr Vesna Maras is Dean of the Faculty for Food Technology, Food Safety and Ecology, University Donja Gorica, Podgorica and Director of the Development Sector, company „13 jul Plantaže“ a.d., the largest food industry company in Montenegro. Also, she is a member of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Montenegro, member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of vineyards and wineries Montenegro 2011, authorized wine taster (Biotechnical Faculty in Ljubljana - Slovenia) on the list of wine tasters of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Montenegro, member of the Commission for the registration of Grape and Wine producers. She is a member of the Team of breeders at Biotechnical Institute and participation in the creation and recognition of six new table grapevine varieties. Dr Maras is the winner of the inventors of the World Intellectual Property Organization WIPO in 2016, for discovery „Seven clones of grapevine Vranac“. She is involved in almost every scientific and research project in the Centre for viticulture and winemaking at Biotechnical Institute. Special emphasis is on the study of the best autochthonous varieties vranac and kratosija and biotypes of kratosija variety. Studies have included genetic, ampelometric and sanitary evaluation of autochthonous varieties, their molecular identification and analysis of biological and economic characteristics.
